Obituary at Slam Wrestling
Official Facebook Profile
- was a hairdresser in his hometown Louisville before getting into the wrestling business
- was persuaded by wrestlers that he could make it in wrestling with his personality
- was broken in by
Bill Dundee
- for a long time he was unaware that there had already been a wrestler called Terry Garvin who basically had the same gimmick
- got his last name because of his resemblance with the popular Jimmy Garvin
- debuted ca. 1985 for Dale Mann, who promoted shows in Kentucky
- came up with the idea for the Beauty and the Beast tag team
- chose his friend Mark Guleen as his tag team partner The Beast
- had the offer to go to, as he says, a very big promotion as The Beatuy and the Beast, but with Buzz Sawyer as The Beast, so he turned it down
- wrestled on a pink mat that was put in the ring before their matches
- this previously been done by the original Terry Garvin
- while he was injured he joined announcer Mark Lowrance as color commentator
- although he didn't take them for years eventually he got addicted to painkillers and had to go to rehab
