-A lifelong wrestling fan, Tenille Dashwood became involved with the wrestling industry in her early teens, debuting aged just sixteen under the name Valentine for the PWA Australia promotion. -After two years out of the ring due to a shoulder injury, she headed to Canada in 2007 to train at Lance Storm’s famed Wrestling Academy in Calgary. -She soon began working on the Canadian and American independent circuits. Her most notable work came in Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling under the name Tenille Tayla, where she twice captured the NWA-recognised SuperGirls championship during a three-way feud with Veronika Vice and Nicole Matthews spanning 2009 and 2010. She also appeared at four sets of tapings for SHIMMER Women Athletes, often teaming with fellow Australian youngster Jessie McKay. -In March 2011 she agreed a developmental contract with WWE, although her arrival was delayed over a year while she underwent shoulder surgery. She eventual debuted in WWE’s Florida Championship Wrestling territory in August 2012 under the name Emma. -In 2013, with FCW now re-branded as NXT, Emma debuted the character of a clumsy, socially-awkward dancer with a passionate love for bubbles. Originally debuted as a heel, the goofy gimmick soon earned her many fans among the NXT faithful. She reached the final of the tournament to crown the first NXT Women’s champion in July, losing out to Paige and again narrowly fell short of claiming the title from her British rival at the NXT Arrival special event in February 2014. -Emma was called up to the main roster in January 2014, appearing in the crowd during Divas matches holding signs and performing her signature dance. She was eventually invited to the ring by Santino Marella to partner him in a dance-off against Summer Rae and Fandango. This led to a feud between the four over the next few months, accompanied by a series of comic episodes where Santino and Emma’s clumsiness constantly thwarted their attempts to establish a romantic relationship. Their alliance ended when Marella retired in July. -On June 30th 2014, Dashwood was arrested in Hartford, Connecticut on suspicion of theft of an iPhone case, which she claimed to have forgotten to scan on a self-checkout machine at a Walmart. The charge was quickly dismissed on the condition she completed a few hours’ community service and an online course, but nonetheless the incident led to her being released by WWE, then re-hired mere hours later. - From January 2015, Emma began regularly appearing in NXT once again, soon turning heel and forming an alliance with Dana Brooke. |
