- Joseann Offerman is the daughter of former Major League Baseball star José Offerman. In early 2013, aged just 19 years old, she was offered a developmental contract by WWE and relocated from Los Angeles to Florida to begin wrestling training, adopting her childhood nickname of JoJo as her ring name.
- Along with fellow upstart Eva Marie, JoJo was selected as one of two ’newbies’ who would feature alongside WWE’s established female talent on the E! network reality series ’Total Divas,’ which premiered in July 2013. Unusually, due to her role on the show, she appeared frequently on main roster television while undergoing the early stages of her training. An accomplished singer, she performed the American national anthem at the Summerslam pay-per-view in August.
- Her first televised match occurred at the Survivor Series pay-per-view in November, where she was part of the ’Total Divas’ team that defeated AJ Lee’s ’True Divas’ team in a 7-on-7 elimination match, and won again in the rematch the following night on Raw, where JoJo notably eliminated Tamina Snuka.
- At the end of the first season of Total Divas, JoJo asked to be removed from the show in order to focus on her training. She soon made the transition from wrestler to broadcaster, next appearing on television when she became ring announcer for the NXT developmental brand in September 2014. She was promoted to the main roster as a ring announcer and backstage interviewer in April 2015,
